A return to Mull and the venue we enjoyed in 2012.

SP 2011 - mailed by Tom Troscianko

Hello Scotch Perspectives!

I have spoken to several hotels on Speyside and  we now have a very good solution for a venue for our meeting in 2011. It's the Grant Arms Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey. http://www.grantarmshotel.com/

The dates of the meeting are

Friday 29 April until Monday 2 May 2011

Grant Arms Hotel

25 The Square

Tel: 0800 043 8585   or  01479 872 526

email:  info@grantarmshotel.com

The contact person is Heather Tait, but bookings can be made with anyone picking up the phone.

It also scores "Superb" on guest reviews on the booking.com website.

It was visited by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1860 but their reviews are not available. They would be certain to approve of the Society for Scotch Perspectives on the History of Perception, even if they could work out what it means.

We have been offered an excellent rate of £54 per person per night for dinner, bed, and breakfast

There are only 39 spaces available since they have another group that weekend - a rally of classic cars. However, they will offer us a room in which we can all meet, and will arrange overflow accommodation at the Garth Hotel opposite. We will take dinner together in the Grant Arms, the same deal will apply to the price, and all bookings will be made through the Grant Arms.

You can see the "overflow" Garth Hotel here: http://www.garthhotel.com/

The dinner arrangements will involve pre-choosing the dishes that we each want to eat, since this will facilitate an efficient service for a large group.

You should book your room as soon as possible, directly with the hotel. It's best to do this by phoning the numbers given above. The person answering the phone will know about our meeting, so please mention Scotch Perspectives.

They can provide family rooms, cots, etc.

I rather like the idea of the classic cars - perhaps we can combine forces and organise a nocturnal Scotch Rally? You know the sort of thing, 18 laps of the town square with horns blaring... this could mark a new phase for the Society! (In jail... thus solving our accommodation problem for many years).

So - get on with it, book your rooms!

Cheers

It's not too late to book. You just need to send me a £20 deposit per person and let me have details of the nights you wish to stay, contact telephone number and any special Room & Dietary requirements.

Don't forget it's only £55/person/night including a 3 course Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. So, please do let friends/colleagues know asap.

2010 AGM details posted to mailing list by Daljit Singh

Following a very enjoyable recce trip we've decided on the Lovat Arms Hotel in Beauly as the venue for our 2010 Scotch Perspectives meet.

Beauly is an ancient and picturesque market town just a short twelve mile drive from Inverness with plenty of nice walks, a nature reserve close by and the Glen Ord Distillery close by.

I've managed to negotiate what we feel is an excellent deal of just £55 per person per night for bed, breakfast and a three course dinner. The supplement for single occupancy is only an extra £15 (reduced from £20).

I have provisionally booked 30 rooms for us from Friday 30th April to Monday 3rd May (Bank Holiday).

Please see below for details:
Rooms - The Hotel has 34 rooms. This includes 3 single rooms, 12 twin/double rooms in an Annexe and 22 rooms in the main hotel. This also includes 3 Family rooms and there are Cots available too. Almost all the rooms have been recently refurbished.
Food - There will be a 3 course dinner each night with 3 choices for each course. The menu will change each night with Vegetarian options and any special dietary requirements catered for.
Whisky Tasting Evening - We have been offered exclusive use of the Dining Room (that we will be using for evening meals) for our Whisky evening presentations etc.
Parking - Plenty of Free Parking in front of the Hotel,on street and square opposite.
Booking - Please can you forward a £20 cheque deposit to me - made payable to 'Lovat Arms Hotel' - and post to Nimlet Gate, Nimlet, Cold Ashton, Wilts SN14 8JX or if you prefer you can pay your deposit using a credit/debit card directly to the Hotel. However, in either case I still need you to forward the following to me please:
Names of those staying
Type of room preferred twin/double/single/family with a Cot?
Nights you are staying
Any special dietary requirements
Contact Telephone number
We really do hope that we will have one of the best turnouts yet. To ensure you don't miss out on a great weekend please book early!! :)

Look forward to receiving your booking confirmations asap and to seeing you in April 2010.

Best Wishes
Daljit x
